Microdermabrasion Typical Microdermabrasion Machine Microdermabrasion is the process of bombarding the skin with with thousands of sterilised aluminium oxide crystals using a small microdermabrasion machine. As the machine bombards the skin, a vacuum suction removes removes the particles along with the dislodged skin. The force at which the particles are propelled and the speed at which the device is passed over the skin determines the depth of the treatment. There are a lot of people who like the idea of just blasting away all their skin imperfections, so microdermabrasion is perfect for them. There is a small risk of side effects such as infection, hyperpigmentation and bleeding but if done by a properly trained doctor, these are minimal. This process can be overused so it is advisable that it be done no more than ten to twenty times a year. The most common particle used is aluminium oxide but others, such as salt crystals, can be used. The are many microdermabrasion treatments on the market but essentially they all perform the same function.
